Two days after President Uhuru Kenyatta held the Sagana III meeting, his Deputy William Ruto is this Saturday headed to Nyeri.
Ruto’s visit has been billed as strategic in nature to counter Uhuru’s ‘bombshell’ that was the endorsement of ODM leader Raila Odinga for the Presidency.
His handlers have christened the meeting as Sagana IV in a bid to discredit Uhuru’s convention whose main agenda was to give the region a political direction.
The DP will first have two campaign rallies in Laikipia before heading to Nyeri Town for a grand rally.
At the same time, Raila is set for a defining moment of his political career.
After his Handshake with Uhuru and courting the Jubilee Party in the last four years, Raila’s ODM is set for official marriage.
The two parties are set to hold NDC separately which will later lead to a joint session.
The joint meeting, according to Jubilee Vice-Chair David Murathe, will see the opposition chief endorsed as the Azimio La Umoja presidential flagbearer.
Already, fringe parties allied to Azimio La Umoja have held their NDCs in which Raila was unequivocally backed for the presidency.
Raila’s Saturday defining moment comes two days to the singing of a grand coalition dubbed Azimio-One Kenya Alliance.
This is after Wiper leader Kalonzo announced that they have officially kicked off structured dialogue for partnership with the Raila team.
The boosed Raila’s odds for the presidency owing to Kalonzo’s influence in the Kamba region.
