Azimio leaders in Kilifi have told Deputy President William Ruto to forget about Kilifi votes.
Speaking in a series of political rallies in Baricho, Garashi and Migumoni in Garashi ward, Magarini, Kilifi County, the leaders said the DP s continued foray to the Coast region will not earn him votes since the region has already closed its vote basket to Azimio Presidential candidate Raila Odinga.
Led by ODM gubernatorial candidate and former Devolution CAS Gideon Mung’aro, the leaders said it was time to be in the government since Mr Odinga is already one step into the statehouse and the local votes were the only remaining confirmation of his presidency.
Other leaders were Kilifi Woman Rep Gertrude Mbeyu, Kilifi s Maendeleleo Ya Wanawake Organisation (MYWO) chairperson Witness Tsuma, Azimio Youth Leader Fikirini Jacobs and Magarini MP aspirant Harrison Kombe among a host of MCA aspirants.
Mr Mungaro told the DP to stop his baby cry kind of politics by blaming Mr Odinga and the handshake for the high inflation rate the country is facing now since he was the reason behind this mess.
DP Ruto should know that the people of Kilifi and the Coast region are not fools. He, first of all, has to explain to us the loss of more than one million bags of maize lost during his tenure in the agriculture ministry. Because Kenyans including the people of Kilifi very well remember that after the miraculous disappearance of that huge consignment, the maize sector collapsed under his watch leading to high maize prices. That has not been addressed to date even with him in the office,” said Mr Mungaro.
Ms Mbeyu told the residents not to vote for Mr Odinga the Azimio Presidential leader and reject DP Ruto and his entire UDA team in Kilifi led by gubernatorial candidate Aisha Jumwa.
” Today our message is clear to the people of Magarini, don’t vote for any other outfit than Mr Odinga and the entire ODM team. UDA and the Pamoja African Alliance (PAA) are dens of corrupt individuals out to siphon the remaining county resources after plundering it to the ground. The only county leader that can steer the county to the height of success is Mr Mungaro. If he teams up with Mr Odinga, then the pride of Kilifi will return,” she said.
Mr Fikirini told DP Ruto to forget about winning even an MCA seat in Kilifi and the Coast at large because the region has remained with Mr Odinga.
He said the DP was being misled by his UDA gubernatorial candidate in Kilifi Ms Jumwa who termed her as a total failure.
“The DP came to Kilifi and snatched our daughter without telling the elders. Now Mr Ruto, you have a curse placed upon you by the elders and you together with our daughter will not get our votes. The coast is Mr Odinga and stop wasting your energy on your daily trips here,” said Fikirini.
Ms Tsuma said the DP has no goodies for this region and was only working with greed political leadership that will be rejected by the people in Kilifi and in the entire Coast region.
“The price of maize flour is about to hit Sh300 and you were the cause of this when you were the agriculture minister. You played games and gambled with the lives of Kenyans yet you know pretend to be a sheep while you are a wolf in a sheep’s skin,” she said.
The leaders scoffed at the DP saying that he should stop his attacks on Mr Mungaro while at the Coast.
“You are trying to mount an empty sack and that will not be possible. Respect our Kilifi leadership, said Mr Fikirini.
