Deputy President William Ruto has mourned former Sotik MP Antony Kimetto alias Sotet, who passed away on Monday.
Taking to his official Twitter handle, Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza leader, eulogised the late Kimetto as a level-headed leader who was selfless in his service to the people of Sotik.
“We are saddened by the death of former Sotik MP Anthony Kimetto. He was a level-headed leader, selfless and a consummate parliamentarian who spoke his mind. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family, friends and the people of Sotik. Rest In Peace,” Ruto said.
According to close family members, Kimetto died on Monday at a Nairobi hospital while undergoing treatment for diabetes-related complications.
Kimetto was a two-term Member of Parliament for Sotik between 1997 and 2007, when he was toppled by the late, Lorna Laboso, who died in a plane crash in 2008 alongside, Kipkalya Kones, former Bomet Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister.
Kimetto was a former school principal, successful farmer, and businessman before entering politics.
He is also the father of former MP Dominic Koskei, also known as ‘Sotet Jnr.’
