Ruto Nominates New Registrar, Assistant Registrar of Political Parties, and KNCHR Chairperson

President William Ruto has announced key nominations to the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR), in line with constitutional requirements and recommendations from relevant selection bodies.

In a statement issued on Friday, August 15, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the President has nominated Mr. John Cox Lorionokou as the Registrar of Political Parties and Ms. Agatha Wanjiku Wahome as the Assistant Registrar of Political Parties. The nominations follow recommendations from the Public Service Commission.

Separately, acting on the advice of the Selection Panel appointed through Kenya Gazette Notice No. 4651 of April 11, 2025, President Ruto has nominated Ms. Claris Awour Onganga for consideration as Chairperson of the KNCHR.

The Head of State has formally submitted the names to the National Assembly for vetting and approval, as required by law. Once approved, the nominees will take up their respective roles in overseeing political party regulation and advancing human rights in the country.

These appointments come as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Kenya’s governance and accountability institutions.
