Ruto Orders Arrest Of Culprits Involved In Sondu Clashes

President William Ruto has ordered the arrest of those involved in the Kericho-Kisumu border clashes in Sondu, Kenya.

Speaking in Nyando, Kisumu County, Ruto urged Interior Security Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki to crack down on the perpetrators.

“There are people taking us backwards and we will deal with them the same way we have dealt with the bandits in the North Rift and Al Shabaab,” he said.

President Ruto’s tough call comes a day after CS Kindiki transferred security chiefs from both sides of the border and ordered the arrest of all complicit security officers.

The government has deployed specialised security teams to quell the tribal clashes in Sondu that have left at least seven dead.

The highly trained police units are expected to contain the escalating violence in Sondu town along the Kericho-Kisumu border.
