Ruto Predicts 2027 Victory, Introduces New Cabinet Nominee in Embu

President William Ruto has declared himself confident of winning a second term in office come the 2027 general election, urging his political opponents to prepare for a spirited but fair contest.

Addressing residents in Runyenjes town during his ongoing development tour of the Mt Kenya region, Ruto maintained that his track record would speak for itself at the ballot. He urged all elected leaders to stay focused on service delivery, rather than premature campaigns.

“I am certain of victory in 2027 because Kenyans will vote based on performance. Each elected leader, from MCAs to governors, should concentrate on their duties. When the time comes, the people will choose wisely,” he told the crowd.

Ruto also reaffirmed his partnership with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, describing their working relationship as “solid and united,” adding that the two remain committed to national unity and development.

As part of his visit, the President unveiled Geoffrey Ruku Mbeere North MP as his nominee for Cabinet Secretary for Public Service. Ruku is set to replace Justin Muturi, who was relieved of his duties over alleged non-performance and absenteeism.

“Ruku now has your blessing and he can hit the ground running immediately,” Ruto said to loud cheers from the crowd.

On matters of local development, Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire appealed to the President for improved infrastructure. She requested the construction of modern markets in Kianjokoma and Kathageri and an allocation of Ksh100 million to upgrade Runyenjes Sub-County Hospital to Level 4 status.

“If these projects are delivered, I will make sure you get top marks from the people,” Mbarire remarked.

Meanwhile, Ruto defended Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, who came under fire after attending a political event during the President’s visit to Nyeri. The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) had questioned the IG’s political neutrality.

However, Ruto dismissed the criticism, saying the IG was present as part of his official mandate to oversee security during national functions.

“It’s unfortunate that people are politicizing his presence. The IG was doing his job. In fact, there were over 300 officers in attendance why is no one talking about them?” Ruto asked.

The President’s tour continues as he rolls out more projects in the Mount Kenya region and reassures residents of his administration’s commitment to transformative development.
