Ruto Rigging Claims Forwarded To The DPP

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions will look into Deputy President William Ruto’s allegations of a scheme by his opponents to rig the August elections.

Wafula Chebukati, the Chairman of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) made the announcement while issuing an update of the progress.

The electoral authority has already referred the complaint to DPP Noordin Haji for action, Chebukati said on Thursday.

He said that because the claims were filed outside of the country, the IEBC lacked jurisdiction to investigate them.

Ruto made the remarks during a recent trip to the United States and the United Kingdom.

The DP told the international community that there are intentions to rig the vote in favor of Raila Odinga, accusing President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration of extortion.
