President-elect Ruto Graces Sakaja’s Inauguration 

Several United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MPs-elect accompanied the president-elect to the event.

President-elect William Ruto attended Nairobi Governor-elect Johnson Sakaja’s inauguration which was held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

Several United Democratic Alliance (UDA) MPs-elect accompanied the president-elect to the event.

Outgoing governor Ann Kananu arrived at the venue to take part in the power transfer ceremony.

Sakaja was elected governor on August 9, 2022, with 699,393 votes to Polycarp Igathe’s 573,516 votes.

Igathe ran on the Jubilee Party ticket, which is part of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition, which is led by Ruto’s main presidential rival, Raila Odinga.

Chief Justice Martha Koome appointed Justice Roselyn Aburili to preside over Sakaja’s and his deputy James Muchiri’s inaugurations.

Caroline Kabucho, Deputy Registrar of Magistrates Courts, was chosen to assist Justice Aburili.

Sakaja is Nairobi’s fourth governor, succeeding Evans Kidero (2013-2017), Mike Sonko (2017-2020), and Ann Kananu (2021-2022).
