Ruto Team Disowns Alleged Payment To Twitter Influencers

The communication staff of President-elect William Ruto has denounced as fake a letter circulating on social media purporting to show payments authorised to Twitter influencers for online services delivered between August 9th and August 22nd.

In a statement on Wednesday, Hussein Mohammed, the Director of Ruto’s campaign secretariat, termed the letter as a desperate attempt by “masters of forgery”.

“Desperation; by the masters of forgeries and lies!” Mohammed said in reaction to the said letter.

The letter claimed to have been authored by Hussein Mohammed and addressed to the UDA Finance Director, purported to approve payments in tens of thousands of dollars to five social media influencers.

The cumulative amount on the now-declared fake letter totalled US dollars 114,643 (Ksh.13.7 million).
