Ruto Tells Off Raila Over Bribery Claims Against Chebukati Three

President William Ruto has dismissed claims by Azimio leader Raila Odinga that three former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners paid him a visit before the announcement of the presidential election results.

Speaking on Monday at the African Prosecutors’ Association (APA) Conference in Mombasa, the President remarked that it was odd that the bribery allegations surfaced five months after the elections.

He further wondered why Raila – as a presidential candidate at the time – invited the former commissioners to his residence.

“It begs the question, you had the opportunity to bring up this evidence of alleged bribery before seven judges of the Supreme Court you did not. You have instead chosen to take this big announcement to a political rally,” Ruto said.

Ruto stated that Raila’s remarks were laced with the insinuation that the officials went there for something he had not disclosed.

“He is volunteering the information insinuating that the officials had gone there for something that he has not disclosed.

“If it is true, what were these officials doing at your house in the first place,” Ruto added.

Speaking on Sunday during the Jacaranda Rally, Odinga told Chebukati to stop saying Azimio made attempts to bribe him and warned that he will reveal photos of him visiting his home.

“Chebukati is saying there are people who tried to bribe him, even his other colleagues Guliye and Molu. I want to ask them what did you come to do at my house? What did they ask me for? Inform them that I have photos and I can expose them,” Raila stated.

Raila stated that they also went to former CS Raphael Tuju’s house and that he has video evidence.

He insisted that Chebukati, the former IEBC chair, should be imprisoned.
