Ruto To Hold Mega Rally In Jacaranda

On Sunday, United Democratic Alliance (UDA) presidential candidate William Ruto will return to the Nairobi campaign trail with a mega rally at Jacaranda Grounds in Nairobi.

The rally will take place on the same day that UDA’s Nairobi Gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja will know his fate from the Dispute Resolution Committee of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

Thousands of Nairobi residents, as well as Kenya Kwanza coalition leaders from the Nairobi region, are expected to attend the mega rally.

The Jacaranda grounds has been a favourite spot for a series of political meetings especially during elections.

The venue is perhaps best remembered for the drama that surrounded it in the aftermath of the 2017 General Election, when truckloads of faeces were dumped at the grounds in an attempt to prevent Raila from holding a political rally.

The last time the deputy president visited Jacaranda, the rally devolved into chaos, forcing police to use tear gas to maintain order.

Despite the fact that the event was completed, DP Ruto blamed his main rival, Azimio La Umoja presidential candidate Raila Odinga, for inciting violence among his supporters in his perceived strongholds.

In 2020, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino warned Ruto and his allies against distributing wheelbarrows in the constituency.
