Human rights activist Ndegwa Njiru has launched a scathing critique of President William Ruto ahead of his scheduled State of the Nation address, dismissing the upcoming speech as a performance laden with “untruths and political showmanship.”
In a statement published on his official X account on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Njiru framed the President’s address in a deeply critical light, referring to it as “The state of the lies address.”
The activist, renowned for his stance on governance and accountability, anchored his criticism in a specific past event. He recalled a parliamentary session from November 9, 2023, during which President Ruto claimed to have personally contacted several Kenyans who were beneficiaries of his administration’s programs.
By invoking this previous assertion, Njiru implied a pattern of what he perceives as verifiable inconsistencies in the President’s public communications, casting doubt on the credibility of the information expected in the forthcoming address.
