President William Ruto has issued a stern warning to those engaging in anarchic activities in the country, saying that his administration will not hesitate to take firm action to protect the nation’s democracy.

Speaking during a church service in Sotik, Bomet County, President Ruto warned that Kenya will not tolerate chaos and destruction of property, and that his government will do everything in its power to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.

“We are a democratic country, and we solve our issues peacefully through democratic means. We cannot abandon democracy for dictatorship, chaos, destruction of property, deaths and anarchy,” he said.

The President’s remarks come amidst planned protests by Generation Zoomers (GenZ) and Millenials on Tuesday, which the police have banned due to concerns of infiltration by criminal elements. Past protests have resulted in deaths and widespread destruction of properties across the country.

Ruto assured Kenyans that his government will take all necessary measures to protect their safety and properties, saying “we will protect our democracy, we will protect the peace and stability of our nation, we will deal firmly and resolutely with those who are engaged in mayhem, anarchy, causing deaths and destruction of property.”

The President also emphasized the importance of the rule of law in Kenya, saying that there is no room for anyone to engage in violent activities without facing the consequences. “There is no place in our country and in our Constitution for anybody to have a free licence to visit mayhem, anarchy, death and violence on the people of Kenya,” he said.

Ruto assured Kenyans that his government is in control and will ensure that life and property is safe and secure. “We have a government to ensure that life and property is safe and secure and we will do it,” he said.

The President’s warning comes as tensions remain high ahead of the planned protests, which are expected to attract thousands of youth across the country. The government has been accused of being slow to respond to the demands of the youth, who are calling for reforms in the government.
