Ruto: We Will Respect The Verdict

Ruto went further to say that it is the duty of every Kenyan regardless of their status to respect the rule of law if the country is to go forward.

President-elect William Ruto has promised to respect the Supreme Court’s ruling in the presidential petition challenging his victory on August 9.

The outgoing DP assured his supporters during a thanksgiving ceremony at Larmudiac High School in Njoro, Nakuru County, that the Kenya Kwanza brigade will follow the ruling set for Monday, September 5, 2022.

“Tomorrow (Monday), the Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on the Presidential election petition. Because we are a country that adheres to the law, we will equally respect the decision of the court. That is how we will be able to have an all-inclusive country. There is no bigger or lesser Kenyans, all Kenyans are equal before the law,” he said.

Ruto went further to say that it is the duty of every Kenyan regardless of their status to respect the rule of law if the country is to go forward.

“There is no other way of pushing Kenya forward, there is no other way of achieving economic prosperity. It is only through observing the rule of law and this will begin from me and all other leaders,” he said.

He also expressed confidence that if his victory is upheld by the Supreme Court, there will be a peaceful transition between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta.

If his victory is confirmed, the president-elect has promised to make sure that the outgoing president is well cared for during his retirement.

Ruto was flanked by Rigathi Gachagua, Nakuru Governor Susan Kihika, Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi, and other Kenya Kwanza coalition leaders.
