Sabina Chege, the acting leader of the Jubilee party, has stated that former President Uhuru Kenyatta was legally dismissed from his position as party leader.
“Nobody chased Uhuru Kenyatta from being the Jubilee party boss, we followed the law to remove him,” she said.
There are two factions claiming to be the legitimate leaders of the party, one led by EALA MP Kanini Kega and the other by former Ndaragwa MP Jeremiah Kioni.
Chege, speaking at a memorial service in Sirisia Constituency on Saturday, accused the former President of actively engaging in politics rather than advising current leaders.
She stated that former presidents should leave politics six months after their successors take office.
Furthermore, the acting party leaders urged the former President to focus on uniting Kenyans, as he has done in other African countries.
“After Uhuru’s retirement, he was given the role of ensuring that there is peace in Africa but the way he is behaving it seems he is not doing what is necessary,” Chege added.
She went on to say that Uhuru willingly turned up the reins of authority to President Ruto. She requested that the opposing party give him time to work for Kenyans.
