Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane has continued to make headlines off the field this week after once again demonstrating his love for his people in Senegal.
The former Liverpool star is used to making headlines on the field, but it’s his continued efforts off the field that are making the most of a difference.
The 2022 Ballon d’Or runner-up is one of the African football stars known for their charitable work away from the field.
With his latest gesture on Tuesday, the 30-year-old striker was reported to have given away over 100 Bayern Munich jerseys to children from Bambali, his native village where he grew up.
Mane’s act of kindness has already gotten him a lot of praise on social media, with a video of the Bayern Munich star (personally signing the shirts before they were shipped) going viral.
Mane received France Football’s inaugural Socrates Award two weeks ago, during the Ballon d’Or ceremony, in recognition of his charitable work in his native Senegal.
In recent years, the Bayern Munich forward has built a public hospital and funded schools and families in his home village of Bambali, as well as donated to the Senegalese National Committee to aid in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
