Safaricom has launched a new feature called “Lipa na Data” that enables its customers to make payments for goods and services using their Safaricom internet data balance.

To access the service, Safaricom customers can simply dial 54434#. However, it is important to note that a minimum of 5GB mobile data on the Safaricom line is required to utilize the service.

The Lipa na Data service is available to both Safaricom Postpay customers with a data balance of 5GB and above, as well as Prepaid customers with No Expiry bundles above 5GB. If a customer does not meet these requirements, they will receive an error message.

Upon accessing the service, users have the option to view their data bundles and can proceed to pay for goods and services using either the PayBill or Till Number methods.

The Bundles Calculator feature allows customers to check the equivalent amount of their bill in Kenya Shillings based on their data bundle usage. This helps users determine if they have sufficient data bundles to cover the payment.

Once the payment method is selected and the necessary details are provided, the next prompt will display the amount being paid in data bundles. Customers can then choose to accept or decline the transaction to complete the payment.

Safaricom plans to roll out the Lipa na Data service to all eligible customers in the near future, making it even more convenient for Safaricom users to make payments using their internet data balance.
