Safaricom has announced the launch of the 2023 Lewa Safari Marathon at the Sarova Stanley Hotel.
The marathon is a charity event jointly organized by the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Tusk Trust which takes place within the open conservancy and brings together local and international runners propelled by a common goal – to run in the wild and raise funds for numerous community development projects as well as wildlife conservation efforts.
Since its inception, the event has raised over $8.8 million, which has gone into various initiatives that impact wildlife conservation, construction and equipping of schools, provision of equipment at health facilities and engaging in sustainable harvesting and use of water.
“Our KES 10 million sponsorship will also cater for the provision of connectivity at the event and optimize the network for a seamless experience for our customers.
‘We are proud to be part of this noble cause as we continue to be an enabler of sustainable livelihoods through meaningful connections with communities,” Safaricom said.
