Safaricom receives global award for incorporating gender balance in its workforce

Kenya’s leading Telecommunications provider, Safaricom has scooped the 2019 Visionary Award for Leadership and Governance for its efforts in incorporating women in the C suite and its best in “class workforce diversity and inclusion”.

Safaricom was further recognized for its efforts in exhibiting innovation, creativity, and good governance systems and processes. 

While appreciating the award from the Women Corporate Directors – Kenya Chapter, Safaricom’s interim CEO Michael Joseph reiterated the company’s policy in ensuring women had the same playing field as men in the workplace, hence diversifying for better results.

“We are honored to receive this accolade and recognition which is a true testament to our commitment to promoting diversity in the workplace.

This acknowledgment further underlines our efforts as an equal opportunity employer, actively recruiting diverse staff from different backgrounds to reflect the communities we serve regardless of gender, disability, religion, race, age, thinking style or any other quality,” said Michael Joseph.
