Bukayo Saka has been left out of Arsenal’s squad for today’s Premier League match against Manchester City.
After being taken off in the North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspur, the winger has had a string of injuries in recent weeks. Saka was forced off after 34 minutes of Tuesday night’s Champions League loss to RC Lens after appearing to pick up another injury last week against Bournemouth.
In his pre-match press conference on Friday, Mikel Arteta remained tight-lipped about the 22-year-old’s prospects of playing versus City. The Gunners, on the other hand, will be without one of their best players after Saka was not chosen to the matchday roster.
Eddie Nketiah starts Arsenal’s top-of-the-table showdown against Manchester City at the Emirates. The 24-year-old replaces Bukayo Saka, who is out due to a muscle injury suffered against Lens.
However, he has not healed in time to play. Nketiah will most likely start up top, with Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard flanking him on the wings.
Jorginho replaces him at the foundation of the midfield. Declan Rice advances to a slightly more advanced role, while Kai Havertz is replaced. Thomas Partey is only physically fit enough to sit on the bench. Meanwhile, Martin Odegaard heads the team in midfield.
