Sakaja Name Struck Off UoN Alumni List

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja’s name has been removed off the University of Nairobi’s list of alumni graduates.

Sakaja’s name had previously appeared on the university’s website directly above the late former vice president Prof George Saitoti’s under the Faculty of Science and Technology.

He was noted as having earned a degree certificate in Actuarial Science.

Since being authorized by IEBC to run for Nairobi governor on a UDA ticket on August 9, the senator’s academic credentials have come under intense scrutiny.

Four complainants petitioned the commission, requesting that the clearance certificate be revoked on the grounds that Sakaja is disqualified to run for the seat.

The law requires all gubernatorial candidates to obtain a degree from a recognized university.

In their affidavits, the complainants questioned the veracity of Sakaja’s degree from Team University in Uganda, on the basis on which the IEBC cleared him.
