Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has announced plans to renovate Lang’ata Cemetery.
The first-term governor alluded in a statement that he had dispatched a team to clean the graveyard in order to give it a facelift and ensure that the dead have a beautiful resting place.
He stated that the efforts would give the deceased dignity.
“I directed the environment team to clear and clean up the cemetery. We must ensure that everyone, including the deceased, is treated with dignity “He stated.
The county Governor also stated that they will repair deteriorating roads and signage.
“The team is working extremely hard to improve this situation. We all have the right to be treated with dignity. Whether dead or alive. This is how we will continue to conduct business: by ensuring order, dignity, hope, and opportunity for all “He went on to say.
Lang’ata cemetery has two Kinds of graves: temporary and permanent.
The cost of a permanent grave is Ksh30,500, while a temporary grave is Ksh7,000.
