Salt prices will rise beginning April 15 due to the high cost of production, according to salt manufacturer Kensalt.
“We wish to inform you that due to a continuous rise in the cost of production, we have been forced to increase our prices by KES 1,000 per ton plus VAT,” Kensalt General Manager Arpan Roy said in a notice on Friday to consumers.
The manufacturer stated that the price increase was necessary in order to maintain supply in order to meet demand.
Kensalt is currently retailing at Sh35 per kg.
