CNN Travel listed Samburu in Kenya among the world’s best places to visit in 2023.
In the list of 25 places published on Wednesday, March 8, Samburu was recognized for being a haven for some of Africa’s most beguiling wildlife including rare species of Giraffe.
“The grassland and acacia-dotted landscapes of its national reserve are home to the endangered reticulated giraffe and Grevy’s zebra as well as the pioneering Elephant Watch Camp,” CNN Travel noted.
At the top position was Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda which is home to almost 350 bird species and 220 butterfly species.
The list consisted of 25 places across the world including Vietnam, New Zealand, Morocco, Philippines, Australia, the Maldives, Jordan, Chile, Coast Rica, Colombia, Dominica, Norway, Slovenia, Turkey, Italy, the UK, Croatia, Canada, Alaska, Arizona, South Dakota, Utah, and China.
Samburu boasts numerous tourist attractions majorly parks, conservancies, and reserves.
Some of the top luxury spots in Samburu with scenic views for tourists include Saruni Samburu, Sasaab, and Elephant Bedroom Camp, among many others.
Additionally, the county is also recognized for the “Samburu special five”- a unique wildlife species found in the Samburu Game Reserve.
They include Beisa Oryx, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra (endangered), Gerenuk, and Somali Ostrich.

Tourism is one of the major sources of income for Kenya with millions of tourists flocking to the country to enjoy the extensive coastline and the wildlife safaris.
