Former Kamukunji OCS In Rape Allegations, Denies Charges

Samir Adhuman Yunus, the OCS behind the alleged sexual assault of his junior police officers has been charged with Abuse of authority.

Samir Adhuman Yunus, on June 15,2019 at Dadora Police Station is said to have taken advantage of his position of authority and sexually molested one police officer named JM.

Appearing before Chief Magistrate Micheni Wendy, the accused denied the charges.

The OCS has also the High Court to stop the DPP from charging the officer on account of the violation of his human rights.

The Lawyer moved the trial magistrate to defer plea taking for seven days, however, the magistrate declined the application stating that no stay has been issued by the high court.

He was released on a bond of Ksh 500,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 200,000.

Samir Yunus was arrested by detectives from the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) after he honored summons to appear before the IAU director.

Section 24 (2) of the Sexual Offences Act says any person who is a law enforcement officer takes advantage of his or her position and has sexual intercourse or commits any other sexual offence within the limits of the station to which he or she is appointed, commits an offence of abuse of a position of authority and is liable upon conviction to imprisonment for a term of not less than 10 years.
