Samuel Wathika Gathuru, one of the suspects in the Kes 67 million Gold scam has been charged with being in possession of an illegal firearm.
According to the charge sheet, Samuel Wathika was arrested on February 3, 2023, at Pangani drive in Karen area. At the time of arrest, the suspect had Sig Sauer Pistol without a valid license.
He was also charged with being in possession of ammunition without a certificate contrary to the Law.
He is said to have been arrested with 393 ammunition of caliber 5.56 by 45 mm.
” You are charged with being in possession of ammunition without a license. Facts of the offenses are that on February 3, 2023, at Pangani drive in the Karen area without lawful authority or excuse, had in your possession 393 ammunition of caliber 5.56 by 45mm” read the charge sheet.
Further, he was charged with failing to renew his firearm certificate.
Appearing before Chief magistrate Esther Kimilu, Mr. Samuel Wathika denied the charges.
He was released on a bond of Kes 500,000.
