SBM Bank Kenya and Serena Hotels have launched a new strategic partnership that will offer exclusive benefits to SBM cardholders, while also strengthening Kenya’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

The alliance was announced at a signing event held at the Nairobi Serena Hotel, the flagship property where customers can now begin enjoying the perks of the collaboration.

Under the agreement, SBM cardholders will enjoy up to 20% discounts on a variety of services at Serena properties across the country. These include 20% off dining experiences—covering popular events like Seafood Fridays and Sunday brunches—15% off accommodation, and 10% off spa treatments at the luxurious Maisha Spa and Health Club.

Speaking during the unveiling, SBM Bank Kenya’s Director of Consumer Banking Beth Thuo said the partnership reflects the bank’s dedication to offering value-driven, integrated services that resonate with today’s evolving consumer expectations.

“In a financial landscape where consumers demand more from their banking experience, this partnership delivers meaningful lifestyle benefits while reinforcing sustainable tourism. We are giving our clients a new way to explore Kenya’s rich hospitality offerings with greater ease and affordability,” Thuo noted.

Serena Hotels’ Regional Marketing Director, Maureen Okore, described the partnership as a natural convergence between financial innovation and destination hospitality. “This is about connecting our guests to unforgettable experiences in some of Kenya’s most beautiful and culturally significant locations. By collaborating with SBM, we’re making these escapes more accessible, especially for local travellers.”

The partnership not only aligns with SBM Bank’s customer-first strategy but also supports Serena Hotels’ push to enhance domestic tourism by offering world-class experiences grounded in African heritage and sustainability.

Both institutions anticipate the initiative will boost SBM card usage while driving increased traffic to Serena Hotels’ properties. As Kenyans seek more personalized, experience-led services, this collaboration sets the tone for what the future of lifestyle banking and local travel could look like.
