School Builds Ultramodern Gate With A Cell

Bungoma High School in Kanduyi constituency, Bungoma County became the online talk of the day when it emerged that they built a gate worth 3 million Kenyan shillings.

Perhaps, the most notable feature of the ultra-modern gate is a detainment cell where miscreants will be held before they are handed over to the nearest police station.

The event was graced by Western region director of Education Stephen Barongo who lauded the school management for the move to build a modern gate.

According to Barongo, the gate will address issues of insecurity within the school and ensure that students stay in a safe environment.

Any student or intruder who goes against the law will have to be taken in there and spend some time there as they investigate the matter.

“I am very impressed with the move by the Principal of this school Mr Enock Andanje for coming up with such a fantastic initiative of ensuring that the school gets a modern gate,” Barongo said.

He also urged students to double their efforts as the examination period approaches assuring them of the ministry’s support throughout the examination time.

“I want to assure both class eight and form four candidates who will be sitting for their exams that the ministry of education will work closely with the security department to ensure candidates are working in a conducive environment,” he said.

Other than the cell, the magnificent gate also has other features such as giant metallic doors, spacious security office and washrooms for the visitors to the school.

Enock Andanje, the school Principal said that parents are the ones who started fundraising for the construction of the gate by giving Sh2,000 each.
