A 20-year-old kindergarten chef was sentenced to 30 years in jail by an Eldoret court after pleading guilty to defiling a five-year-old kid.
Eliakim Kemboi alias Elias, a chef at a private primary school, astonished the court when he admitted to defiling the child in the school classroom.
Elias, who is visually handicapped, is accused of committing the crime on August 29, 2023, in the Moiben area of Uasin Gishu County.
The convict claimed that he had taken off the child’s pants in a classroom before his mother suddenly arrived.
A medical examination report from Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital revealed that the infant had been sexually assaulted.
Eldoret Senior Principal Magistrate Caroline Wattimah stated in her judgement that even though the accused claimed that he had not defiled the child when her mother came, his conduct of undressing her was a strong sign that she had malicious intentions.
