Second Death in a Week Casts Shadow Over Walt Disney World

Another tragedy has struck Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, where a male guest died on Tuesday morning, the second death reported on the property in less than a week.

Emergency services responded to a “Person Down” call at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground just after 7:30 a.m., according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

The man, believed to be in his 60s, reportedly suffered a medical episode and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities have ruled out foul play.

The incident occurred in the 1500 loop of the resort’s Cottontail Curl area, a quiet section surrounded by trees and open green spaces.

The Fort Wilderness site, popular among visitors seeking a more secluded Disney experience, features campsites, RV pads, and cabins spread across 750 acres of woodland.

Walt Disney World has not yet issued a public statement regarding the death.

The tragedy comes just days after another fatality within the resort grounds. On October 14, 31-year-old Summer Equitz of Naperville, Illinois, died by suicide at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, located less than a mile from Fort Wilderness.

Authorities said Equitz, a longtime Disney fan, arrived at the resort earlier that day without notifying her family.

Equitz’s death, and now the passing of the unnamed male guest, have cast a sombre mood over the resort, one of the most visited destinations in the world.

The sheriff’s office has confirmed investigations into both cases remain open, though neither death is being treated as suspicious.
