Members of Parliament from the Azimio la Umoja Coalition who had gathered at the entrance to President William Ruto’s office at Harambee House have been dispersed by police officers.
Stewart Madzayo (Kilifi Senator), Enoch Wambua (Kitui Senator), Robert Mbui (Kathiani MP), Rosa Buyu (Kisumu Woman Rep), Edwin Sifuna (Nairobi Senator), TJ Kajwang (Ruaraka MP), and others made up the delegation.
The legislators marched to Ruto’s office with letters in hand.
Senator Sifuna told security officers at the Harambee House gate that they will march to other government offices today to deliver their petitions.
“We just want to give this letter to the right person. Tell them to come and take it.”
Shortly, police lobbed teargas to disperse the legislators.
The march coincides with planned anti-government protests called by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
