Section of Nairobi Expressway to Be Closed from May 16 to 19

Sections of the Nairobi Expressway will be temporarily closed for four days, according to an announcement by Moja Expressway, the managing company.

According to a public notice issued on Thursday, May 15, the section between the overpass at James Gichuru Roundabout and Njuguna’s Place on Waiyaki Way will be affected.

In the notice, Moja Expressway indicated that the sections will be closed from 6:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16th, to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, May 19th.

The move will allow for construction and maintenance works.

“Motorists are informed that the Nairobi Expressway section from the overpass at James Gichuru Roundabout to Njuguna’s Place on Waiyaki Way will be temporarily closed from 06:00 a.m. on Friday, May 16th to 08:00 pm on Monday, May 19th,” the notice read in part.

“To facilitate road construction and maintenance works.”

At the same time, Moja Expressway noted that although the closure will affect motorists who use the Expressway, the underpass and the Nairobi–Nakuru Highway will remain open and unaffected.

The Expressway management has advised drivers to plan their journeys in advance and consider alternative routes during the closure period to avoid delays.

Also, the management has apologized for the inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and thanked the public for their continued cooperation and use of the toll road.

“Please note that traffic on the underpass and the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway will not be affected. Apologies for the inconvenience caused, and thank you for choosing the Nairobi Expressway,” added the notice.

Motorists in need of assistance or further clarification have been advised to contact the Expressway’s 24-hour service hotline at 0111 039 777.
