The Senate has voted to adjourn the controversial debate on the revenue sharing formula for a record 7th time.
In a point of order that was moved by Elgeyo Marawet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, gave room to carry out further dialogue on the matter.
The motion was supported by 34 Senators while 26 voted against the motion.
The stand off that will be presented again in two days, has been postponed multiple times after senators failed to agree on a new revenue-sharing formula proposed by the Finance Committee.
The committee that was chaired by Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru is now faced with an uphill task, amid looming strike notices from counties with unpaid workers.
Treasury, while sitting in a virtual meeting over the stalemate, agreed to release up to Ksh.29 billion that was not disbursed in the last financial year to enable counties deal with urgent expenses.
The Senate will reconvene on 6th August 2020, with a decision on the sharing formula, with Speaker Ken Lusaka warning Senators of public outcry over the debate.
