Senator Cherargei Fires At Raila, Says Senate Shall Not Impeach Siaya DG Oduol

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has said that Senators will not impeach Siaya Deputy Governor William Oduol even as conflict with his boss James Orengo continues to escalate.

In a Twitter statement on Monday, Cherargei termed the impeachment attempts as “sickening and nauseating”.

“The impeachment proceedings and removal from the ODM party of Siaya Deputy Governor Oduol by Tinga (Raila Odinga) is sickening and nauseating for exposing corruption in the Siaya County government.

“As a senate, we shall NOT impeach DG Oduol nor confirm impeachment proceedings from Siaya County assembly against him. This once again has confirmed Tinga (Raila) as the Lord of corruption, poverty and impunity,” Cherargei said.

This comes after the ODM party expelled the Deputy Governor over alleged mismanagement of the county.

The party’s Siaya County branch officials met in Siaya town on Sunday and decided that DG Oduol should be compelled to resign as he no longer subscribes to the party’s aspirations.

“This meeting has unanimously resolved that the Siaya County Deputy Governor be compelled to rewsign from his position since he no longer subscribes to the ideals and aspirations of the party. The meeting has resolved that he be expelled, and is hereby expelled,” read a statement from the party.
