Senator Samson Cherargei of Nandi has been arrested.
The lawmaker revealed on his social media page that he had been arrested at an undisclosed location and was escorted to Nairobi for questioning.
The outspoken politician, on the other hand, has remained tight-lipped about why he was detained.
Cherargei arrest comes days after he secured the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ticket to defend his seat in the forthcoming August 9 general elections.
While the reason behind his arrest is a matter of speculation at this particular point in time, Hon Cherargei has been battling a number of cases in court with the latest one coming a few days ago when he had been charged at a Nairobi court over his hate speech claims.
