Senator Wambua Receives Gachagua at JKIA

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua of the Wiper Democratic Movement drew attention on Thursday when he was the only leader from the Wiper party who turned up at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) to receive former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, now leader of the Democracy for the Citizens Party.

Wambua, who has openly declared that he will vie for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the 2027 general election, has fueled speculation over his political direction by appearing at the high-profile event. While some reports suggest he may have been representing Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, others view his move as an early signal of shifting political ground.

With uncertainty surrounding his long-term prospects in Wiper, there are speculations of Wambua exploring closer ties with Gachagua’s DCP as new political formations begin to take shape ahead of the polls. His presence alongside Gachagua’s allies at JKIA has been interpreted as a strategic positioning for 2027.

The senator’s appearance at the airport has also stirred debate over possible new political alignments in the run-up to 2027.
