Senior police officer kills his junior after meeting at their girlfriend’s house in Kitengela

An altercation involving a senior police officer and his junior, believed to be romantically involved with the same woman, has left one of them dead in Kitengela, Kajiado County.

According to a police report, the deceased, Police Constable Manasseh Ithiru attached to Kitengela Police Station, reportedly was thrown out of the fourth floor of Geoffrey Flats, where he was with a woman believed to be his girlfriend.

Ithiru had earlier, at about 7 pm, taken a bodaboda to the house of the woman, which is about three kilometres south of the police station along Deliverance Road.

The officer is said to have visited his girlfriend, 27-year-old Irene Wavinya Nzioka, who resides in room 416 of the said apartment on the fateful day.

He was ushered in and rested with the Wavinya for about three hours before someone knocked on the door.

On opening, it emerged that the guest was a fellow police officer, Sergeant Abubakar Said, attached to the local Critical Infrastructure Police Unit based at the Export Processing Zone in Athi River, who had unexpectedly come to visit his girlfriend, Wavinya.

When the guest stormed into the house with Wavinya pleading for peace, a scuffle ensued between the two officers, with Sergeant Said overpowering the junior cop and reportedly throwing him from the apartment balcony.

Officers from the DCI and CSI Unit based in Kitengela responded to the scene and found the lifeless body of the constable lying in a pool of blood in the parking lot with multiple injuries, including severe head trauma.

They processed and documented the scene as part of ongoing investigations.

The body was later moved to Shalom Hospital Mortuary pending a postmortem examination.

Both Sgt Abubakar Said and the woman have since been taken into custody and are assisting police with investigations.
