Senior Police Officer ‘Posing As A Lawyer’ Arraigned In Court


A Nairobi-based regional headquarters Chief Inspector of Police was arraigned in Court where he faced charges of giving false information contrary to the Law.

David Ochieng’ Onyango was charged that at an unknown date in December 2012 at Administration Police Service headquarters at Jogoo House within Nairobi County, he informed Ms. Margret Karanja a police officer that he was an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

He was further charged with fraudulent acquisition of Public property contrary to section 45 of the Anti-Corruption and Economic crimes Act.

David is said to have fraudulently acquired a non-practicing allowance of public property amounting to Ksh 2,469,193 from the Government of Kenya.

He was also charged with acting as an advocate by giving services and earning a non-practicing allowance from the administration police service knowing that he was not qualified as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya.

Appearing before Magistrate Zainab Abdul at Milimani Law Courts, the accused denied particulars of the offenses and was released on a Bond of Ksh 1 million with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 500,000.
