Seven Suspects In Bomet Gang-Rape Incident Caught On Video Arrested

 

Police in Bomet have arrested seven people in connection with a gang rape that was captured on video and shared on social media.

According to Bomet County Police Commander Robinson Ndiwa, the seven were apprehended in the Olbutyo area of Chepalungu sub-county and are now being questioned at the Chebunyo police station before being taken to court.

According to Ndiwa, two of the suspects arrested have been positively identified: Anderson Mutai, 38, and Weldon Sigei, 21. The two are accused of taking part in the heinous act.

The county police chief added that the video was shot last year and was released yesterday on social media platforms. The lady in the incident is yet to be identified and traced.
“The matter was not reported to us. We are doing all we can to process the whole thing. The law doesn’t allow such content to be distributed or displayed anywhere,” added the officer.
Area chief Edwin Barusei said the main suspect, Anderson Mutai was hosting the recorded clip.
