An unspecified number of soldiers have been confirmed dead in an early morning training exercise involving a Kenya Air Force helicopter.
The 9.am incident occurred in Ngong, Kajiado County.
Witnesses who saw the accident say the Mi-171e helicopter lost control mid-air and burst into flames while attempting to crash land in the open grazing area.
The Ministry of Defence said all the passengers were accounted for.
