Several youths have been arrested in Nairobi CBD near the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) as they prepared to join the Azimio la Umoja leaders in their planned protests.
The young men had gathered around the KICC, where the leaders of the Azimio la Umoja movement were set to begin their rally.
Some of them allegedly attempted to gain access to KICC, prompting the arrests.
The area has been heavily secured.
Security officers, who had been assigned to keep the peace during the protests, moved in to disperse the crowd.
During the ensuing melee, several of the youth were arrested and loaded into an awaiting lorry.
