SGR Vandals Caught On CCTV Camera

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is seeking two thugs who were caught on camera vandalizing Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) transformers on Saturday night.

The two spanners-wielding suspects were allegedly vandalizing a crucial power supply unit in Makindu when a signal was received by detectives manning the SGR system remotely, according to police.

“A detachment of officers from Makindu and Emali police stations was despatched to apprehend the thugs, who raced to surround thickets when they noticed the dazzling lights of a rapidly approaching police land cruiser,” DCI stated.

“Unbeknownst to the thugs, the transformers, which were equipped with a 24-hour surveillance system, had already relayed their photographs to our command centre.”

“As detectives profile the suspects in order for them to face the consequences of their conduct, we want to remind the public that the railway is a crucial national infrastructure that is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said the DCI.
