The Social Health Authority (SHA) has announced the appointment of twenty-three new Assistant Directors in a move aimed at strengthening its management team.
In a statement released on Friday, October 31, SHA Board Chairperson Dr. Abdi Mohamed announced that the significant appointments follow a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on July 25, 2025.
“The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of twenty-three new Assistant Directors. These significant appointments follow a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on 25th July, 2025,” the statement read in part.
According to Dr. Mohamed, the expansion of the senior management team injects a wealth of experience into the Authority’s ranks, with the new leaders being crucial for enhancing operational capacity across all Directorates as SHA scales up to achieve its core mandate.
Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba has been appointed as the Assistant Director for Legal Services, while Adow Osman Ahmed takes up the position of Assistant Director for Registration and Compliance under County Coordination. Moindi Kevin Omai has been named Assistant Director for Supply Chain Management.
In the Planning and Linkages department, Douglas Odhiambo Owino and Beatrice Chelangat Kimalel have been appointed as Assistant Directors. The Benefits Management department will be led by Assistant Directors Mercy Kamene Mutua and James Leiro Letangule.
The Fund Management department has seen the appointment of Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa and Samira Swaleh as Assistant Directors. For Finance and Accounts, Irene Jepngetich Rono and Mohamed Elmi have been appointed to the role.
Callista Kendi Omwenga and Timothy Musyoka Malusi will serve as Assistant Directors for Administration, while Khadija Ali Juma and Maureen Cherwon have been appointed as Assistant Directors for Human Resource Management and Development. Brian Muriithi Mugambi takes up the position of Assistant Director for Customer Experience.
In the technology and compliance departments, Julius Kiamba Muli has been appointed as Assistant Director for Information Communication Technology, while Fardosa Abdi Ali and Gilbert Mogambi Osoro will serve as Assistant Directors for Registration and Compliance. Julia Ouko has been named Assistant Director for Provider Management.
The Internal Audit department will be strengthened by the appointment of James Tama Musyoka, Irene Akinyi Ng’ong’a, and Samson Nthei Mutuku as Assistant Directors.
This comes as SHA continues with mass recruitments in various departments within the authority.
Three days ago, the authority announced over 200 vacancies spanning multiple job grades from A to C, with positions ranging from senior management roles to support staff.
The recruitment drive included 54 vacancies for Officer Administrator II positions and 53 for Driver II positions, demonstrating the authority’s aggressive expansion strategy.
Among the advertised positions were Assistant Directors in Claims Management, Benefits and Provider Management, and Communication, as well as various officer-level roles across legal services, ICT, human resource management, and finance departments.
Candidates interested in the ongoing recruitment were required to meet the Chapter Six requirements of the Constitution and submit their applications through the authority’s online portal at https://recruitment.sha.go.ke/ by 5:00 p.m. on November 18, 2025.
