Shabana FC’s top scorer Brian Michira has sparked transfer speculation after hinting at a possible exit from the club ahead of the upcoming FKF Premier League season.
Fresh off a standout campaign where he netted 12 goals, the attacking midfielder confirmed that he has received offers from Tanzanian top-flight clubs, among them Singida Black Stars, KMC, and Pamba Jiji — the latter home to former Shabana teammate Mathew Tegisi.
“I have received offers from three Tanzanian clubs, and it is what I’m evaluating right now before I make my final decision,” Michira told Mozzart Sport.
Michira, whose contract with the Glamour Boys runs until the end of the year, has emerged as a hot prospect in East African football following a season in which Shabana climbed from relegation battlers to mid-table stabilisers.
He finished five goals behind league top scorer Moses Shumah, and ranked as the highest scoring midfielder in the campaign.
With interest mounting, Michira admitted that some suitors are willing to buy out his existing contract, a development that raises the real possibility of an early departure.
“There’s a chance I will leave Shabana before next season. As a player, you always want to play in competitive leagues, and I will evaluate all my options,” he said.
Still, Michira did not rule out staying, adding: “I could sign a new deal and continue with Shabana, but for now, nothing is decided.”
Shabana, who have already lost Darius Msagha—reportedly headed to Tusker or Bandari—will be desperate to keep hold of Michira as they plan their rebuild for next season.
