Shatta Wale Granted Bail After Detention Over Luxury Car Investigation

Popular Ghanaian artist Shatta Wale has been granted bail after being detained as part of an investigation into his purchase of a luxury car, authorities in Ghana confirmed.

Earlier this month, Wale’s yellow Lamborghini Urus was seized at the request of US officials, who claimed the vehicle was linked to the proceeds of a criminal enterprise.

According to Ghana’s Economic and Organised Crime Office (Eoco), the musician voluntarily presented himself to investigators on Wednesday and was questioned regarding the car.

While Wale’s management stated that the detention was connected to “tax obligations,” Eoco explained that the 2019 Lamborghini was flagged by the FBI and US Justice Department as being tied to a $4 million fraud case involving Nana Kwabena Amuah, a Ghanaian national serving a seven-year prison sentence in the US.

Shatta Wale has firmly denied any connection to Amuah or knowledge of the alleged scheme.
