More than 600 residents of Shauri Moyo, Nairobi County, have expressed fear after receiving eviction notices to vacate a state-owned five-acre plot of land in the area.
The residents, who are survivors of several housing disasters, claim they have been given three days to vacate the premises.
Bulldozers demolished some of the structures built by the squatters on the land on Friday.
According to residents, taps were also dismantled during the exercise, and their electricity supply was also cut off.
Squatters who took to the streets in protest have since requested that the Nairobi County government intervene in the ongoing demolitions.
They have also urged City Hall to follow a court order that ordered the eviction notice to be stayed.
