Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Dominates Parents’ Race, Signals Return to Track

Jamaican sprinting icon Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce once again stunned spectators—not on the global stage, but at her son’s school sports day—by blowing away the competition in a parents’ 100-metre dash.

The three-time Olympic gold medallist showed she hasn’t lost her trademark explosive speed as she powered through the race, leaving her fellow parents trailing in her wake.

The 38-year-old, affectionately known as the “Pocket Rocket,” clocked an unofficial time that demonstrated why she remains one of the fastest women in history, with a personal best of 10.60 seconds.

Competing in support of her seven-year-old son, Zyon, Fraser-Pryce led from the start, gaining a commanding lead within the first 10 metres and cruising to victory by approximately 20 metres.

The sprinting legend previously made headlines in 2023 for a similar dominant performance at another school event, where she won by nearly 50 metres—although this time, the margin was only slightly less dramatic.

While the race was light-hearted, it served as a reminder of Fraser-Pryce’s enduring athleticism. Following a period of limited competition, the Jamaican star recently confirmed she will return to the professional track this year, fueling anticipation for the upcoming outdoor athletics season.

Fraser-Pryce, who claimed her first Olympic gold in Beijing in 2008, remains a beloved figure in the world of athletics. Her recent appearance on the track—even at a school event—has reignited excitement among fans eagerly awaiting her comeback.

One thing is clear: when the Pocket Rocket is on the track, no one is safe—not even at sports day.
