A 21-year- old student at Eldoret National Polytechnic was found dead at her house in Teleview Estate following an alleged botched self-induced abortion.
According to reports, Winnie Jelagat suffered a severe hemorrhage and lost a significant amount of blood.
Locals report that the incident occurred on Thursday morning. Friends who went to check on her were astounded when repeated calls to wake her awake were met with silence.
Neighbors and friends recounted finding her clutching her phone, apparently trying to make a call, with her other hand resting on the bed.
They believe she was attempting to seek help but was overwhelmed by pain and blood loss before she could get assistance.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the incident, urging students in all institutions to avoid self-harm and seek professional medical care when in distress.
