Residents of Makueni County have been left in shock following two gruesome cases of domestic violence reported within the same locality, raising concern over the rising trend of intimate partner brutality.
In the first incident, a man attacked his estranged wife after allegedly locking her inside a house. According to eyewitness accounts, the assailant unleashed a brutal assault using a machete and a rungu, and went as far as biting the woman’s ears during the ordeal. The victim is currently receiving treatment for multiple injuries, and police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who fled the scene.
In a separate but equally horrifying incident, another woman is nursing injuries at Makueni Referral Hospital after her ex-husband reportedly assaulted her. In a tragic turn of events, the man is also accused of killing the woman’s father, who had rushed to her rescue during the attack.
Authorities have confirmed both cases and are appealing to the public to share any information that could assist in the swift arrest and prosecution of the suspects.
Local leaders and rights groups have condemned the attacks, urging communities to report signs of domestic tension before they escalate into violence. They have also called for enhanced enforcement of laws protecting vulnerable individuals, particularly women, in domestic settings.
