The Shujaa national rugby sevens team will compete in the Olympics for the third time in a row.
To qualify, the Shujaa needed to win the Rugby Africa Cup, which they did against worthy opposition, defeating South Africa’s Blitzboks 17-12 in the final.
They had to come from behind to win, trailing 12-7 at halftime, with John Okoth sinking in the decisive try to lift Kenya and break South African hearts.
The Blitzboks can still qualify by winning the Olympic repechage, which will offer the 12th and final Paris 2024 slot.
Shujaa defeated hosts Zimbabwe 35-10 in the semi-finals early Sunday, while South Africa defeated Uganda (26-14) in the other semi-final.
